About Reeds Ferry

Our History

Reeds Ferry Sheds® manufactures high quality custom sheds, utility buildings, and gazebos. Established in 1960 by the late Hobart D. Carleton, the company has over 50 years of manufacturing experience. Hobart's son Harry Carleton is the current President of Reeds Ferry and today the third generation of the Carleton family operates the business day to day.

Our Name

Reeds built its first shed just north of Nashua NH in the town of Reeds Ferry, hence our name. (The town was named for Wilber Reed. During the 1800's Mr. Reed operated a ferry along the Merrimack River between Litchfield and Merrimack.)

In 1969 our growing company needed a larger production facility so we moved first to Rt 111, then in 2010 opened our current factory on Rt 102 in Hudson NH. After the move to Hudson we kept the name "Reeds Ferry" because it’s like our product... one of a kind.

Our Staff

Reeds Ferry buildings are hand-built by experienced craftsmen who take pride in their trade. We employ over eighty carpenters, repairmen, and installers and many have been with us for more than a decade. One major advantage of dealing with Reeds Ferry is that we directly employ 100% percent of our staff. Unlike many of our competitors we do

not use subcontractors for any portion of the construction or installation.

Our Products

With Reeds Ferry you’re dealing directly with the manufacturer. Unlike the home improvement chain-store there is no mark-up for the middle-man. This allows us to keep our prices competitive while using higher grade materials and construction methods. We construct our buildings with the studs 16’ on-center, use thick exterior-grade plywood for the sheathing; pressure-treated lumber on the floor joist; and 25-year asphalt shingles on the roof. Compare our building

to the home improvement store and you’ll see that Reeds Ferry provides far greater quality for the same price.

Our Installation

Delivery is free in New England. Our specialty buildings and gazebos are delivered fully assembled, but Reeds standard sheds are pre-fabricated at our facility and assembled on location. This practice allows our install-crews easier access to your site and it minimizes any chance of landscape damage.

Our professionally trained installers finish a typical installation in less than 4 hours. Reeds Ferry also offers a shed removal and shed relocation service.
